Last week, the Lightning recognized the 13th Community Hero of the year.
Heroes: Connor Bruseski. Charities: All Children’s Hospital and The Children’s Dream Fund. Connor Bruseski is just eight years old, but his good works have been substantial and impactful. When he was six, Connor was diagnosed with Lymphoma. As has been the case with so many Lightning Community Heroes, Connor turned a difficult life event into something positive.
Shortly after receiving his diagnosis, Connor designed 2,000 “Friends of Connor” wristbands and sold them for $5 each. Within three months he had raised over $14,000, which he used to help other children suffering from pediatric oncology diseases.
Connor’s first donation was a $5,000 contribution to the Vincent Lecavalier Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorder Center at All Children’s Hospital.
To learn about someone so young who is so committed to helping others truly warms your heart. It seems appropriate that in this season of giving that the Lightning acknowledged the selfless work of a special young man.
On that note, I’d like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season.
