The Tampa Bay Lightning will open their milestone 20th National Hockey League season, which the team announced will be presented by DEX Imaging, on Saturday, January 19 when they host the division-rival Washington Capitals at 7 p.m. The Lightning will play a total of 48 games, all against the Eastern Conference, and 24 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Additionally the team announced today that single game tickets for all Lightning home games will go on sale Monday, January 14 at 10 a.m.

Tampa Bay will open the season with six of their first eight games at the Times Forum, including a five-game home stand from Friday, January 25 through Saturday, February 2. The Bolts will play six games in the month of January, including four at home and two on the road.
The Lightning will play division foes, the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes, five times each with three home games against Florida and three road contests in Raleigh, North Carolina against the Hurricanes. They will play the remainder of the division, the Capitals and Winnipeg Jets, four times each with two games at home and two on the road.
The Bolts will host one five-game home stand in 2013, the longest of the season, that being the aforementioned set beginning in January. They will also play three three-game home stands and four with two consecutive games at the Times Forum. The longest road trip of the season will be four games, which it will do three times. The first coming February 5-10, the second being February 28 through March 5 and the final coming April 13 through 18. They will play two three-game road swings, two two-game trips and two single-game ones, both at the Panthers.
Tampa Bay will play a season-high 12 games on Saturday and Tuesday nights, including five at home on Saturdays. Of the 24 home games, 10 of them will occur on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. They will also play on Thursdays nine times overall, five at home. The Lightning will play a season-high seven games at the Times Forum on Tuesday nights. Uncharacteristically, they will play three games at home on Fridays.
For those who are not able to attend Fan Fest and purchase their single-game tickets, the Lightning will hold their general on sale at the McDonald’s Ticket Office, www.TampaBayLightning.com and all Ticketmaster Outlets beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 14. As a token of their appreciation toward fans the Bolts will also be paying the Ticketmaster fees for all tickets purchased on Monday until midnight. Fees vary based on each ticket.

The Lightning will play a total of eight sets of back-to-back games in 2012-13. Of those, seven will occur with both games on the road. They will play one set of games with both games at home on February 1 and 2. Of the seven back-to-back sets with both games on the road, the Lightning will play four of them with the first game in the afternoon.
