STANLEY CUP CHAMPION TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING TO HOLD LOTTERY FOR OPENING NIGHT TICKETS
The 2004 Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning will hold a lottery for tickets to the opening game of the 2005-06 regular season. That game, to be played at 7:30 p.m. on October 5 against the Carolina Hurricanes, will, of course, mark the evening that the Lightning raise three championship banners commemorating the unforgettable 2003-04 season. At least 1,000 seats will be made available.
"Demand for tickets for the upcoming season has been phenomenal," said Ron Campbell, President of the Lightning. "Season ticket packages have reduced available seats for opening night to fewer than 2,500. The Lightning will continue to sell season tickets, but have decided to hold 1,000 of these seats for single game buyers.
"We felt a lottery will give all single game buyers a fair chance to get into the St. Pete Times Forum opening night. The best way to guarantee yourself a seat in the building for the banner raising will be to buy one of our ticket plans, but we wanted to make sure everyone in the Tampa Bay community who wants to be here has an equal chance through this lottery."
Lottery winners, based on chosen priority, will be permitted to purchase up to four tickets at different price points for opening night. The team will begin taking applications for the lottery at this week's FANtastic Friday at the St. Pete Times Forum from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. A bonus entry will be given to all fans that enter at FANtastic Fridays through the month of August. Otherwise, beginning Saturday, August 13, one application person will be accepted either over the phone at 813.301.6600 or via email through tampabaylightning.com.
The Lightning will accept applications through September 10 and winners will be notified via phone or email beginning September 19.
Single game tickets for the remaining 40 games of the 2005-06 regular season will go on sale at a later date. For more information, fans are encouraged to call 813.301.6600.
