Tampa Bay Lightning Agree to 5-Year Broadcast Rights Deal With Clear Channel Broadcasting
The 2004 Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning and Clear Channel Broadcasting, Inc. announced a radio broadcast rights agreement this afternoon which means WDAE 620 AM will serve as the team's flagship radio station through the 2009-2010 National Hockey League season. Financial terms of the five-year agreement were not disclosed, but the deal allows the Lightning to sell its own radio inventory. WDAE 620 AM has served as the Lightning's flagship for the past seven seasons and the new deal guarantees a 12-year partnership between the two entities.

"WDAE is where sports fans tune to get their sports in Tampa Bay," said Lightning president Ron Campbell. "We have maintained a great relationship with the Sports Animal over the past several years and we look forward to continuing to build upon an established tradition. Our fans know where to find us on the radio and we believe that consistency is important."

WDAE 620 AM will broadcast all preseason, regular season and postseason Lightning games for the next five years, streaming those contests on the internet via 620WDAE.com, tampabaylightning.com and nhl.com as well.

"We are extremely excited to continue our long standing relationship with the Tampa Bay Lightning," said Brad Hardin, Regional Vice President of Programming for Clear Channel Communications. "NHL Hockey is back and we're thrilled to continue carrying the Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning games on 620 WDAE for the next five years".

Elements of the agreement include: 1-2 Tampa Bay Lightning one hour radio shows per week, including "Lightning Hockey Night", which is scheduled to air most Wednesday's during the regular season at 7:00pm on 620 WDAE; Lightning updates each weekday morning and afternoon during drive time on 620 WDAE; and weekly appearances across the Clear Channel Tampa Bay family of radio stations by Lightning players, coaches and management. WDAE will also originate its "Sports Attacks" from the St. Pete Times Forum on game days.

The broadcast team of Dave Mishkin on play-by-play and Phil Esposito on color commentary will return for the Lightning and WDAE in 2005-06. Jason Dixon will continue to host the team's pre-game show and intermissions.
