LIGHTNING RECALL RW ARTYUKHIN, C TARNASKY FROM SPRINGFIELD OF THE AHL
The Tampa Bay Lightning recalled right wing Evgeny Artyukhin and center Nick Tarnasky from Springfield of the American Hockey League today, Executive Vice President and General Manager Jay Feaster announced today.

Artyukhin, 22, was reassigned to Springfield from Tampa Bay on October 1. In three games with the Falcons he has scored two goals and added one assist with four penalty minutes. He has also earned a plus-2 rating. He scored three goals in five preseason games with the Lightning this season.

The 6-foot-4, 254-pound native of Moscow, Russia was drafted by the Lightning in the third round, 94th overall, at the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Artyukhin played three seasons in Russia, including one in the Russian Elite League, before coming to North America. He played one season with Moncton of the QMJHL prior to beginning his professional career with the Hershey Bears of the AHL in 2003-04. In 2004-05 he appeared in 62 games with the Falcons, scoring nine goals and adding 19 assists with 142 penalty minutes.

Tarnasky, 23, has appeared in three games with Springfield this season. Last season he skated in 80 games with the Falcons and netted seven goals while dishing out 10 assists with 176 PIM.

The 6-foot-2, 233-pound native of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta was selected by Tampa Bay in the ninth round, 287th overall, at the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He played four seasons in the WHL with Vancouver, Kelowna and Lethbridge. Tarnasky appeared in 150 games in his WHL career and scored 36 goals with 79 points and 197 penalty minutes. He had his best season with Lethbridge in 2003-04 when he scored 26 goals and added 23 assists.
