LIGHTNING PROSPECT NORRENA BLANKS CANADA IN BRONZE MEDAL GAME
Tampa Bay Lightning goaltending prospect Fredrik Norrena earned a bronze medal with a 37-save performance and a 5-0 shutout of Team Canada at the 2006 World Championships in Riga, Latvia.

Norrena, a 6-foot, 189-pound native of Pietarsaari, Finland made six appearances at the World Championships and made the best of the opportunity as he posted a 1.11 goals-against average and a .951 save percentage with a 4-2 record. He led all goaltenders in the tournament in GAA, save percentage and was tied for the tournament lead with three shutouts.

Norrena was selected by Tampa Bay in the seventh round, 213th overall, at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He has spent the previous three seasons with Linkopings of the Swedish Elite League.

Lightning center Martin Cibak scored two goals and added an assist in seven games for Slovakia. Defenseman Timo Helbling appeared in four games for Switzerland.
