TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed left wing Norm Milley to a one-year contract, Executive Vice President and General Manager Jay Feaster announced today.

Milley, a 6-foot, 195-pound native of Toronto, played in 14 games with the Lightning in 2005-06. He scored two goals, the first of his NHL career, and had three points in his first season in Tampa Bay. He scored one goal on the power play and averaged more than seven minutes of ice time per game with the Lightning.

"We are very excited to have Norm Milley under contract for the upcoming season," Feaster said. "During the 2005-06 campaign Norm demonstrated that he is more than capable of playing in the NHL and is knocking on the door of being a regular. He needs to train as never before this summer so that he comes into camp in the best shape of his life to really give himself a legitimate chance to make our hockey team.

"Once again, we are adding to our organizational depth with this signing, and Claude Loiselle deserves high marks for the systematic manner in which he has gone about getting so many valuable depth players signed already this off-season."

Milley appeared in 53 games with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League last season and ranked third on the team in goals with 19. He tied for the team lead with two shorthanded goals and was third with nine power play goals. He also was fourth on the Falcons in assists with 29 and points with 48.

Milley, 25, joined the Lightning after spending five seasons in the Buffalo Sabres organization. He appeared in 15 games with the Sabres, recording three assists. Drafted 47th overall by Buffalo in 1998, Milley has played 367 games with Rochester of the AHL, recording 86 goals and 203 points. Milley played 259 games in four seasons with Sudbury of the Ontario Hockey League and scored 167 goals and added 201 assists.

He has played in 420 career AHL games and has scored 105 goals with 251 points in six seasons. He was signed by the Lightning as a free agent on August 18, 2005.
