LIGHTNING RECALL G KARRI RAMO FROM SPRINGFIELD
The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled goaltender Karri Ramo from Springfield of the American Hockey League today, Executive Vice President and General Manager Jay Feaster announced.

Ramo, 6-foot-2, 192-pounds, has played in 45 games with the Falcons this season and posted a 3.13 goal-against average, .906 save percentage and one shutout in his first North American season. He also was the only representative from the Falcons chosen to the 2007 AHL All-Star Game and made nine saves in one period of work. Ramo was also named the winner of the Rbk Hockey Top Goaltender award in the skills competition, stopping 15 of 19 shots on the night. Ramo is currently second in the AHL in shootout wins after posting a 5-1 record and stopping 29 of 35 shots faced.

He has made one appearance with the Lightning this season, making 16 saves on 18 shots faced in a relief role December 12 at Ottawa. Ramo saw 51:43 of ice time during that game, his first NHL appearance.

The Asikkala, Finland native helped HPK Hameenlinna to the Finnish Championship in 2005-06, his first year with the team. Ramo, 20, played in 24 games for HPK, posting a 2.16 GAA and a .929 save percentage.

He represented Finland at the 2006 World Junior Championships and played in one game en route to winning a bronze medal.

Ramo was selected by the Lightning in the sixth round, 191st overall, at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft
