STREET HOCKEY WITH THE TORTORELLAS
3rd ANNUAL EVENT SET FOR WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8 AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA

TAMPA BAY – For the third consecutive year, Tampa Bay Lightning head coach John Tortorella, his wife, Christine, and their children have invited kids from The Children's Home, Inc. and The Child Abuse Council's Child Care Program to the University of Tampa’s auxiliary gymnasium for a day of street hockey, games, food and arts and crafts. Fifty children are expected to participate at the event, scheduled for Wednesday, August 8.

The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with street hockey led by the Tortorellas, other Lightning coaching staff and the Lightning Fan Development Department. The children will move to Shots at Channelside inside the St. Pete Times Forum at 11:30 for a cookout and photos with the Tortorellas. The Arts Center will again give the children the opportunity to try unique arts and crafts under the direction of staff from the St. Petersburg-based center that has helped enrich the community for more than 80 years.

The John Tortorella Celebrity Fishing Tournament, scheduled for Saturday, September 8, will also support The Children's Home, Inc. and The Child Abuse Council.

The Child Abuse Council is a private, non-profit agency that provides prevention, education and treatment programs to help children and strengthen families in Hillsborough County. In 2003, the Council reached nearly 46,000 children and adults through its programs; and community supporters offered more than 5,000 volunteer hours.
