Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Becomes Exclusive Health Plan Sponsor of the Lightning

TAMPA BAY -
The Tampa Bay Lightning have entered into a three-year partnership that designates Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida as the “Exclusive Health Plan Sponsor” for the team. Included in the partnership is the innovative Florida Blue Cup as well as the Health Tip Challenge, which gives fans a chance to compete for prizes online.

The Florida Blue Cup is designed to heighten awareness for the annual series between the Lightning and the Florida Panthers, honoring the team with the best record in the four games played at the St. Pete Times Forum. A Florida Blue Cup trophy will be awarded to the winner each season. The Health Tip Challenge allows fans to visit Tampabaylightning.com to take a quiz created by the Lightning medical staff. Fans taking the Health Tip Challenge will compete for unique behind-the-scenes prizes.

“We are proud to welcome Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida as the Exclusive Health Plan Sponsor of the Tampa Bay Lightning,” said Ron Campbell, President of the Lightning and the St. Pete Times Forum. “As one of the premier health care providers in the state, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida has built tremendous brand legacy. We’re thrilled that, together, we can help generate greater attention to nutrition and health throughout the Bay Area, including at Lightning games.”

Other featured elements of the partnership include a nutrition education program through the Lightning Foundation, all-inclusive scoreboard and LED logo inclusion, a scoreboard “Health Tips” feature, in-game on-ice and PA recognition, t-shirt giveaways and putting their name behind building the rivalry with the Florida Panthers here in Hockey Bay.

“As a leader in the Tampa community, we’re proud to partner with the Lightning,” said Sidney Morgan, BCBSF Market President of West Coast Office. “The Lightning have established a track record of success in addition to one of commitment to this community.”
