LIGHTNING TO HOST THIRD ANNUAL \'PINK OUT NIGHT\' SATURDAY
FANS ENCOURAGED TO WEAR PINK FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning will host their third annual 'Pink Out Night' in honor of breast cancer survivors, caregivers and friends and family of those who have battled the disease this Saturday when they take on the Buffalo Sabres (7:30 p.m., Sun Sports, AM 620 WDAE). Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear pink in honor of the occasion.

The Lightning Foundation's Pink Hat Project kicked off Monday, February 28, 2005 and has since sold more than 12,000 pink Lightning hats with all proceeds going directly to the Don and Erika Wallace Comprehensive Breast Program at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer and Research Institute. The hats feature the Tampa Bay logo along with an embroidered pink ribbon synonymous with breast cancer research and the Moffitt Cancer and Research Institute logo and black hats with pink ribbon rhinestones. In addition this year, the Lightning Foundation will be selling new white hats featuring the new Lightning logo with all benefits again going to the Wallace Program.

All fans in attendance Saturday will receive pink thundersticks. The original pink Lightning hats, the black hats, the new white hats, pink rhinestone breast cancer pins, pink sticks and official NHL pink pucks will all be available for purchase behind sections 101, 204 and 323. The Lightning Foundation will also host a sports memorabilia silent auction behind section 122 during Saturday’s game.

Since 1998, the Lightning Foundation has donated more than $500,000 to assist Moffitt in their mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer.
