LIGHTNING ACQUIRE D MARIO SCALZA FROM DALLAS
Scalzo, 5-foot-9 and 190 pounds, has played in 15 games with the AHL’s Iowa Stars this season. He leads all Stars defensemen in points with nine and is tied for second on the team with eight assists. He is also tied for first among team defensemen with a plus-1 rating. He recorded the first multi-goal game in Iowa Stars history in 2005.
The 23-year-old is a veteran of 162 AHL games and has recorded nine goals and 67 points in three seasons. He played 203 games during his junior career with Victoriaville and Rimouski of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, tallying 50 goals with 187 points. He was named to the QMJHL Second All-Star Team in 2004 and and to the QMJHL All-Rookie Team in 2003.
Scalzo was originally signed by Dallas as a free agent on August 5, 2005.
Lampman, 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, has played in 16 games with Norfolk this season, recording three goals and six points. He was acquired by the Lightning from the New York Rangers in exchange for Mitch Fritz on July 4, 2007.
