The Lightning made a couple of roster moves this morning prior to the morning skate, with reigning American Hockey League Player of the Week Mathieu Darche rejoining the team along with defenseman Dan Jancevski. Both are scheduled to play tonight, with Jancevski taking the spot of Paul Ranger, who is listed as day to day with a shoulder injury.

It looks like Darche will take the lineup spot of Jason Ward, who stayed out late to skate with assistant coach Mike Sullivan. I wonder how many times the reigning NHL and AHL players of the week have skated together for the same team?

As the Lightning often do, the Rangers held an optional morning skate with Jaromir Jagr, Brendan Shanahan and Henrik Lundqvist among the no-shows. Former Lightning d-man Paul Mara participated, and according to Rangers broadcaster Sam Rosen, Mara has been playing well for the blueshirts lately after starting the season as a healthy scratch. Mara chatted prior to the skate and said he loves living in Manhattan despite being a Boston boy.

Don’t forget tonight’s post-game concert on the plaza featuring Seether. Anyone with tickets to the game can attend as the South African rockers play their current hit “Fake It,” among others. The show is expected to start 20-30 minutes after the conclusion of the Lightning game so get out there to save your spot.
