THE LIGHTNING INSIDER
Time to start fresh. That’s the message Lightning head coach John Tortorella is spreading in the locker room, and with 10 home games facing the Lightning out of 14 total December games it’s a great time for the team to shake out of its recent funk and gather some much-needed points.
Tonight’s opponent – Boston – is much improved from past seasons, and a win at home for the Lightning would be a nice confidence boost and a chance to start another run of home success. The Bruins took both games in Tampa last season with the Lightning struggling to get much going, but Tampa Bay has been a much tougher home team this season. Boston is 6-6-1 on the road, while the Lightning are one of the better home teams at 8-3-1.
The Lightning’s morning skate was focused, with Tortorella keeping his answers short when he met with the media. He made it clear that the locker room knows what needs to be done and it would get done by sticking together. Johan Holmqvist is set to start after taking the Detroit game off, while it looked like Michel Ouellet might be a scratch at forward, giving Andreass Karlsson a chance to see some action.
