THE LIGHTNING INSIDER
It was certainly nice to hear music in the Lightning locker room after the game last night, even if it was dance music instead of the usual rock (where was Brad Lukowich to prevent that travesty?). The players seemed to have a sense of relief more than anything after finally being rewarded for their hard work. Now they have to build on the 4-1 win against Boston and on Tuesday they'll be facing an upset Ottawa group that has lost six in a row. A similar effort will be needed.
Congrats to center Craig MacDonald and his wife, Amanda, who welcomed their second child, daughter Emerson Grace, into the Lightning family at a little past 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon. MacDonald had been scheduled to play last night, but wing Michel Ouellet got a reprieve from being a healthy scratch to take MacDonald's spot.
Strange sight observed outside the Lightning locker room last night - Poker pro/multi-millionaire Gavin Smith handing out $100 bills to kids waiting for player autographs after the game. The ESPN tv star hung around long enough to meet fellow poker enthusiast Vincent Lecavalier. Maybe he'll be a guest at Vinny's charity poker event next year?
The Lightning have today off and will be back on the ice at 11 tomorrow to prepare for the Senators.
