Congrats to Vinny Lecavalier who today was named to the Eastern Conference starting lineup for the 2008 All-Star Game in Atlanta. Good job as well to all of you who helped vote him into the much-deserved spot by voting at NHL.com. The league's scoring leader will start on a line with Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby and Ottawa's Daniel Alfredsson. Only the starters were announced today, as the league will fill out the rosters at another date. Marty St. Louis once again has played well enough to be included, but there’s no guarantees.

Maybe it’s about time the Lightning had an All-Star MVP? If anyone can pull it off, it’s certainly Lecavalier.

Even though we’re in the middle of New York City, it was a quiet morning at Madison Square Garden today because the Rangers hold their morning skates at their training facility in the suburbs. So instead of having a large media horde to contend with like Toronto or Montreal, the Lightning had the usual group from Tampa and two locals this morning.

Karri Ramo will get the start once again tonight, but it’s still not known which forward will sit out. After the game the team will bus to Newark and fly back to Tampa to conclude the season’s longest trip.
