THE LIGHTNING INSIDER - ALL-STAR GAME
Neither Marty St. Louis or Vinny Lecavalier attended the NHL Party at the Georgia World Congress Center last night as they elected for time with their respective families. The party crowd was entertained by R&B artist Ne-Yo and featured an enormous food spread and open bar. Many of the Lightning staffers in Atlanta attended the event. All the NHL trophies were in attendance, including the Stanley Cup. There were also many displays highlighting things such as the history of hockey and hockey fights cancer. The room was so big I'm convinced they could have held the game in there.
Sunday was a slow day for the players until game time. Marty had the day off while all Vinny had to do was have his face scanned by McFarlane Toys for use in future figurines. After the win both players had to rush through their media as both had flights back to Tampa following the game. It was a funny scene as players went around the locker room asking other players to sign jerseys and such. In the end, they are all just as big fans of the game as the people in the stands. YoungStar Mike Lundin watched the game from the stands.
So another All-Star Game in the books. The Insider has an early flight back on Monday in time to be there for the Lightning's practice at the Forum. I'll update you then as Tampa Bay takes to the ice on Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres.
