Not a cloud in the sky today in chilly Boston, but definitely a few clouds in my head after the Tribune's Erik Erlendsson and Lightning staffer Ryan Belec forced me to try the blueberry ales at the Boston Beer Works near the TD Banknorth Garden last night. We followed that up at Bell In Hand with Lightning medical trainer Tom Mulligan and his boys from his nearby hometown of New Bedford.

The Lightning's skate was optional this morning, and it appears Mike Smith will get a chance to debut his new pads and mask between the pipes tonight. Smith said the mask, featuring a beach scene and Lightning, will probably only be temporary with a new one coming over the summer. No other changes are expected from Tuesday’s win, with Doug Janik the only healthy scratch.
