Practice in Brandon today was mostly a special teams competition, with the team split into white and black. Coach Tortorella kept changing the rules, as usual, to keep it competitive when one team got too far ahead. It ended in a shootout, of course, with Nick Tarnasky potting the winner for Team White. While Team Black did push-ups and sit-ups as penance, goalie Mike Smith turned his stick into a camera and videotaped his teammates celebrating their victory.

Defenseman Mike Lundin and center Jeff Halpern appear to be recovered from their injuries and took part in the full practice. It will be interesting to see the decisions made on the upcoming three-game trip regarding the defensemen now that Matt Smaby has been recalled and thrown into the mix.

After practice the team headed to the airport for the flight to Buffalo where, of course, the forecast is for cold and rain. Can't wait!
