The Lightning Insider
Well, this is it. Last game of the season but not the last posting by the Insider! I’ll make sure to post something now and then through the summer, especially when the Bolts are making news.
The team just released a statement about Vincent Lecavalier needing shoulder surgery after
the injury he suffered in Washington. The full release can be found here.
Tonight comes down to lottery position for the Lightning as they face the Thrashers. It would be nice if Los Angeles could win their game this afternoon so those of us who are hoping for the top pick in the draft won’t have to be conflicted about tonight’s result. Strange days….
Since we’re on the road, it’s obviously raining in Atlanta. I think it’s rained in just about every city the Lightning has visited this month. There’s still a lot of tornado damage in the area around the arena and the team hotel, and a lot of downtown streets are still closed. Once the “happy bus” navigated through the mess to the arena this morning, it had to promptly park for 15 minutes outside the arena to wait for a train to go by. Longest train I’ve ever seen, and it even stopped at one point. I don’t think anyone on the bus was too anxious to get inside anyway.
Final lineup notes of the season – Mike Smith in goal, Karl Stewart in to replace Lecavalier, Andre Roy and Shane O’Brien are scratched.
