Lightning Own 8 Selections At 2008 NHL Entry Draft In Ottawa
Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21
TAMPA BAY – TheTampa Bay Lightning own eight selections, including the first overall choice, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft which will take place next week at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Ontario. The first round will take place on Friday, June 20 while rounds 2-7 will be held on Saturday, June 21. The first round will be televised live on VERSUS (7-10 p.m.).
This will be the 17th Entry Draft in franchise history. The Lightning are scheduled to select in the following spots in Ottawa: 1st (first round), 62nd (third round), 122nd (fifth round), 152nd (sixth round), 160th (sixth round), 182nd (seventh round), 196th (seventh round), 203rd (seventh round).
Three of the Lightning’s selections were acquired via trades. Pick #160 in the sixth round was acquired from Chicago along with Karl Stewart in the trade that sent Nikita Alexeev to the Blackhawks. Pick #196 in the seventh round was acquired from Nashville in exchange for Jan Hlavac, while pick #203 in the seventh round was acquired from Anaheim along with Brandon Segal for Jay Leach.
Tampa Bay’s selection in the second round was dealt to Florida to acquire Chris Gratton, while the Lightning’s fourth-round choice was traded to Los Angeles in exchange for goaltender Ryan Munce.
