Lightning Foundation to Present "Thunderbug's Street Hockey Tour of Downtown Tampa" to Rampello Downtown Partnership Students
TAMPA BAY - The Lightning Foundation will spend the morning at Rampello Downtown Partnership School on Thursday, June 19 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
“Hockey and History” will be the combined theme for a special morning of interactive educational activities highlighting “ThunderBug’s Street Hockey Tour, Downtown Tampa Guidebook” presented by University Community Health. This fast-paced tour of landmarks and sites encourages children, families and visitors to explore and enjoy Downtown Tampa.
Students attending Rampello’s Summer History Camp this week will rotate through activity stations that include street hockey with David Cole, Lightning Fan Development Director and the Lightning mascot, ThunderBug., sketching and design with Peter Bajohr, the book’s graphic artist from Pop Design Group and mapping skills with Nancy Crane, Lightning Foundation Director. Robin Gonzalez, the book’s author will be on hand to read her book and share her collection of antique postcards with the students.
Local artist Terry Klaaren will add his artistic touch by painting ThunderBug’s image on the cafeteria wall to complement his historic mural that constantly reminds students of their heritage and the history of Tampa.
