The Lightning come into tonight’s game against the Ottawa Senators on a roll after two solid wins in Toronto and Buffalo. Tampa Bay has outscored their opponents 11-9 in the previous four games after being outscored 8-12 in their first five. Barry Melrose will make a change at forward tonight as Ryan Craig will make his 2008-09 debut after spending some time on injured reserve. Matt Pettinger will be the odd man out and be a healthy scratch.

A scary moment today at the pre-game skate as Mike Smith took a puck to the hand underneath his blocker and had to leave the ice. After spending a few minutes in the locker room he returned to the ice. Doesn’t seem like it will effect his playing time. On a side note, Smith’s “SAW” mask is currently going for more than $2,000 in auction.

Much like last Saturday when Dan Boyle and Brad Lukowich came to town with the Sharks, there were some familiar faces in the visiting locker room this morning as Filip Kuba and Alexandre Picard make their return to Tampa after being traded during the summer. Entering play tonight Kuba leads all NHL defensemen in assists with 11 and is tied for the lead in points, also with 11. Picard, who had an offensive impact with the Lightning after being acquired from Philadelphia last season, has two goals and four points.
