It’s freakin’ cold up here in Boston! Though the temperature is 30 degrees (and that’s nothing compared to the 40-below night I experienced a few years back in Montreal), the wind is gusting at about 20 miles per hour so the wind chill temperature will stay in the teens all day. I think I need a Boston Beer Works Bluebeery Ale to warm me up!

Left wing Ryan Malone, a surprise scratch Saturday night against Buffalo, will be out once again tonight with an upper body injury. Adam Hall, who was a healthy scratch Saturday, is back in tonight in place of Radim Vrbata. Jeff Halpern, Chris Gratton and Gary Roberts remain sidelined, with Matt Pettinger due back any game.

Interim Head Coach Rick Tocchet said he’s trying to limit the pressure being put on goaltender Mike Smith – the team’s top performer thus far.

“We can’t let Smitty get frustrated,” he said. “He’s playing so well we just want him to stay focused on pucks and what he can control. It’s on the rest of us to get it going offensively for him.”
