Martin St. Louis To Replace Injured Crosby In Eastern Conference All-Star Lineup
MONTREAL - Tampa Bay Lightning leading scorer Martin St. Louis has been named to the Eastern Conference team for the 2009 NHL All-Star Celebration this weekend in Montreal, the National Hockey League announced today.
St. Louis takes the place of Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby, who received a record number of votes in All-Star fan balloting but will not participate due to injury.
A native of nearby Laval, Quebec, St. Louis will be making his fifth consecutive NHL All-Star Game appearance when the best of the Eastern Conference take on the top players from the Western Conference in the 57th NHL All-Star Game at Bell Centre on Sunday (6 p.m. ET, RDS, CBC, VERSUS, NHL Radio).
St. Louis won the Art Ross Trophy as NHL scoring champ, the player-voted Lester Pearson Award and the Hart Memorial Trophy as League MVP in 2004 while helping lead the Lightning to the Stanley Cup. His 17 goals and 29 assists this season give him a team-high 46 points. His plus-11 rating also is best among the Lightning.
