Well, at least the snow has let up a little bit this morning. The Lightning boarded a bus at 10:30 and headed to the airport for the 90-minute trip over the Canadian Rockies from Edmonton to Vancouver. Before departure we crossed paths at the hotel with the Columbus Blue Jackets, who play Edmonton tomorrow and will follow us to Vancouver after that.

The forecast is for rain today in the Pacific Northwest, which at least means it's a lot warmer than it is here..

If you've never been to Vancouver, it's easily one of the top three cities in the NHL. The scenery is amazing, with the mountains and ski slopes looming over downtown, and the place has a strong Oriental feel to it. And, if you like seafood, especially salmon, it doesn't get any better than in Vancouver.

I suppose we're spoiled by our hotel location, right next to massive Stanley Park (named after Lord Stanley) and on the inlet that separates downtown from the mountains of North Vancouver. Just to the south of our hotel is an artsy little bohemian district, full of trendy cafes and bars. With two days until the Bolts face the Canucks, there are worse places to be.

For those of you who saw the end of last night's game and saw Vincent Lecavalier take a Martin St. Louis slapshot off the back of his skate, it doesn't appear to be serious. While Vinny was definitely bruised by the shot and had a limp going after the game, he's expected to be ok.
