Lightning Recall Szczechura, Segal From Norfolk
TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled center Paul Szczechura and right wing Brandon Segal from Norfolk of the American Hockey League, it was announced by Executive Vice President & General Manager Brian Lawton.

Szczechura, 23, has skated in 18 games with the Lightning this season, his first in the NHL, recording two goals, four points and six penalty minutes. He has appeared in 33 games with the Admirals this season, tallying 13 goals, 29 points and a plus-8 plus/minus rating.

A 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of Brantford, Ontario, Szczechura was signed as a free agent by the Lightning on April 24, 2008. He played four collegiate seasons at Western Michigan from 2003-04 through 2006-07, recording 44 goals, 86 assists and 107 penalty minutes in 153 games.

Segal, 25, has yet to appear in an NHL game in his career and is currently second in scoring on the Admirals with 21 goals and 41 points in 52 games. A 6-foot-2, 214-pound native of Richmond, British Columbia, Segal was acquired last February in a trade with Anaheim.

Originally drafted in the fourth round by Nashville in 2002, Segal is currently in his sixth professional season, having skated four years with Milwaukee and one season with Portland of the AHL before joining Norfolk last season. In 387 career AHL games he has recorded 89 goals, 166 points and 448 penalty minutes. He played in 242 career junior games in five seasons with Calgary of the Western Hockey League, recording 108 goals, 198 points and 358 penalty minutes.
