Our resident snoop will make sure you’re the first to know when the Lightning are making news.
A groggy good afternoon from Washington D.C. We arrived at the hotel a little past 2 a.m. today, so there will be a few naps taking place this afternoon from among our group. The team chose to stay at the hotel for a meeting before lunch because of the late arrival.
Tonight’s lineup will likely be the same as last night, though Rick Tocchet didn’t say who would be in net. Mike McKenna probably gets the nod, though Karri Ramo was great last night and might deserve another start. Evgeny Artyukhin got banged up in the third period, but Tocchet said he expects him to play tonight.
Is it a bad sign that the following two groups are holding meetings in the hotel?
The American College of Bankruptcy and the National Funeral Directors Association. They should get them all together for a happy hour!
The Bolts set an NHL record last night with their 17th OT or shootout loss, but all was not negative after the game. To a man, everyone in the locker room was happy for David Koci, who netted his first NHL goal in the third period.
“It was great to see Koci score a goal,” Rick Tocchet said. “He works hard every day. It’s nice for him; I'm proud of him.
“I’ve never seen a bench like that. They were happy for him. [Koci] didn't know what to do when he scored.”
After tonight’s game we’ll bus to Baltimore for a flight back to Tampa. Ottawa visits the St. Pete Times Forum at 6 p.m. Sunday – don’t forget to come see the Lightning players walk the red carpet on the Chrysler Jeep Plaza between 3-4 p.m.
