Lightning Kick Off Opening Week Celebrations with Unplugged
The Tampa Bay Lightning hosted the first-ever Lightning Unplugged open mic event, Thursday at Pete and Shorty’s Tavern in Pinellas Park with over 100 fans on hand.

Along with the fans, special guests Matt Walker and Mattias Ohlund were in attendance to answer an array of questions from defensive pairings, to Speedo diving in Sweden.

Unplugged, a part of the Lightning’s “Together We Will” campaign, was designed to give fans the opportunity to interact with the players and give them the opportunity to ask questions in a relaxed, casual environment.

Former Lightning defenseman Chris Dingman was the evening’s honorary host and stand-up comedian, while other former players like Dave Andreychuk simply enjoyed the good company.

Lightning fans from across the Tampa Bay area came to enjoyed food and drink specials, prize giveaways and an autograph session by Walker and Ohlund.

Unplugged will be a staple of the Lightning’s “Together We Will” marketing campaign all year long, bringing at least two Lightning players into the neighborhoods of Tampa Bay each month to family friendly restaurants and pubs.
