Changes on the Back-End Tonight
Look for some changes in the line-up for the Lightning tonight as they play the Carolina Hurricanes for the second time in the past week. Antero Niittymaki will make his first start in goal as a member of the Lightning. He has had some previous success against the ‘Canes, posting a 5-2-2 record with a 2.90 goals-against average for his career.
On the blue line look for Lukas Krajicek to make his season debut in place of David Hale. Hale, who was filling in for Kurtis Foster, came down with the flu last night and will not be able to go. Foster is still nursing that lower body injury and he is not able to play tonight either. To the Insider, it sounds as though both Niittymaki and Krajicek’s appearances tonight had were planned in advance though as coach Rick Tocchet looks to work everyone in the lineup early on the in 2009-10 season.
Tocchet is starting to hear some questions from the media about the Lecavalier/Tanguay line. So far they have not found the back of the net, but they have certainly had their chances. “They just have to keep playing the right way,” Tocchet said. With the level of talent on that line there is no reason to think that they won’t start potting a bunch of goals. They have created a number of chances and its only a matter of time before they start etching their names on the scoresheet.
Hopefully it will start tonight.
