Smith In Net Again For Game Tonight on CW44

After coach Rick Tocchet finished a short team meeting this afternoon  he told the media that Mike Smith would be in the nets for the Lightning against his former team, the Dallas Stars, tonight.

Smith had 26 saves in 27 shots for the Bolts in a 5-1 win over the New York Rangers last night and Tocchet has elected to give him starts on back-to-back nights for the first time this season.

Much of the media discussion this morning focused on the Lightning's emerging team chemistry and its importance after the team bounced back from an ugly loss on Wednesday with the resounding win over the Rangers.

Tocchet spoke of the leadership of Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis in the game,  setting the tone early for the Lightning. St. Louis was all over the ice right from the start of the game and Lecavalier, taking exception to a wild elbow the Rangers' Michael Del Zotto, hit him with a hard check and then engaged Sean Avery in a tussle as he came to Michael Del Zotto's defense.

The Lightning's already high energy level jumped another notch behind its captain and the team went on to steamroll the Rangers.

That's the type of leadership and "edge" to his game Tocchet likes to see from his captain, knowing it can mean more points for the Lightning.

So look for the Bolts to bring more
Of that energy tonight against the Stars, as they look to break a five team logjam at 27 points in Eastern Conference.

Game time tonight is 8:30pm and it will be televised on WTOG CW 44 in Tampa Bay. Lightning fans are encouraged to tune in and look for one-time ticket specials available only during the broadcast.
