Tampa Bay Lightning Usher In Holidays With Jewish Heritage NIght
The Tampa Bay Lightning are proud to host the third annual Jewish Heritage Night to celebrate the beginning of Chanukah and to usher in the holiday season. On December 9, festivities will begin on the plaza in preparation of the puck drop as the Lightning face off against the Edmonton Oilers at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Pete Times Forum (Sun Sports, AM 620 WDAE).
Beginning at 6 p.m., fans will receive access to the plaza to enjoy a pre-game party featuring latkes, fun and more. Lightning owner Craig Sher will kick off the Chanukah festivities by participating in the giant Menorah lighting ceremony. Just $20 will net fans access into the party, as well as a Terrace corner seat, a kosher hot dog, chips, drink and souvenir.
Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for donations which will be collected by Tampa Jewish Family Services. All donations will render fans eligible to enter for a chance to win an autographed Jeff Halpern stick. In addition, the first 100 fans who purchase tickets will also receive a surprise Tampa Bay Lightning gift.
Following the game on December 9, Chanukah festivities will continue with parties all across Tampa Bay, including South Tampa’s “Chanukah in the Park.” Fans will be reminded of the event during the Lightning-Oilers game with an announcement during the intermission. The festival will take place at Hyde Park Village on December 15 and includes the lighting of Tampa's tallest Menorah, Enigma Dance Kru from MTV's "America's Best Dance Kru," art vendors, wine tasting, arts and crafts, and glow in the dark face painting. Latkes, doughnuts, and chocolate gelt will also be served as part of the Hyde Park Street Fair. The Lightning Mobile Marketing Unit will make an appearance, continuing the celebration of the holiday as well as Jewish heritage.
