Smith to Backstop Lightning Tonight Against The Red Wings

The Lightning practiced yesterday at Joe Louis Arena.  The bad news is during practice Victor Hedman took a shot off the foot and will be a game time decision tonight.

Mike Smith gets the start in net for the Lightning.  I expect a solid game from him tonight.  Tampa Bay's most recent game against Nashville is arguably the only game to date you can pin on the goaltenders.

Speaking of goaltenders, Detroit' Chris Osgood is 17-0-0 in his career against the Lightning.  It doesn't look as though the Bolts will get a shot at him tonight as Jim Howard was the first to come off the ice.

Head Coach Rick Tocchet wouldn't divulge his line up for tonight, but he did indicate that Alex Tanguay would be back on the ice.

On a lighter note, Strength and Conditioning Coach Chuck Lobe received the shaving cream pie to the face this morning.  The tradition has become common in the locker room this season.

After the game tonight the Lightning will travel to St. Louis for a match-up with with Blues tomorrow.  Catch the game on Sun Sports tonight with Rick Peckham, Bobby "the Chief" Taylor and Paul Kennedy.  Today is actually Kennedy's birthday as well.
