Coach Tocchet on Caps' streak: "Enough is enough"
Well, a weird week got even weirder today as the Lightning found out on Monday that today's morning skate would be held at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum. Following the circus, which left on Sunday, the ice at the Times Forum was not ready to hold the morning skate today. So the team arrived at the arena this morning just like any other game day and put their gear on, only instead of walking out to the ice they walked out to a bus waiting outside. Once the bus arrived in Brandon the players put on their skates and hit the ice.
The team skated for about 30 minutes and then went back into the locker room to remove their skates and get back on the bus to return downtown. Once back in the locker room the team held a 20-minute video meeting.
Rick Tocchet revealed that Mike Smith will get the start in goal coming off his 33-save performance against the Devils. Jeff Halpern, who had to sit out the second half of New Jersey game on Sunday since he didn't start on Friday, will return to the line up tonight. The Lightning also reassigned Blair Jones to Norfolk.
Tocchet had some interesting words this morning about the match-up with the Capitals tonight. "Enough is enough," he said, referring to Tampa Bay's 12-game losing streak against Washington. He said the Lightning will need to better execute the game plan. Tocchet also said you can't just focus on stopping Alex Ovechkin, pointing out the Mike Green has also been a thorn in the Lightning's side. The Capitals did not hold a morning skate this morning, instead electing to have a meeting at the Times Forum.
