St. Louis was one of three Lightning players to appear in all 82 games last season. He currently holds the NHL’s fourth-longest active consecutive games played streak, skating in 390 consecutive contests. Last season he ranked fifth in the NHL with 94 points, matching the second-highest total of his career. A native of Laval, Quebec, St. Louis has been nominated for the award the previous four seasons. He has also been nominated for the award five times overall, winning for the first time in his career in 2010.

Other finalists for the award were former winners Brad Richards (2004) from the Dallas Stars who won the trophy with the Lightning as well as Detroit’s Pavel Datsyuk (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009), who had won the previous four seasons.

Also at the event, Lightning forward Steven Stamkos was awarded the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy, along with co-winner Sidney Crosby, as the NHL’s leading goal-scorers.
