Sunday, September 18: Chris Dingman\'s Thoughts on Training Camp

The day began with both the Blue and White teams practicing on the North and South rinks at 10am. Practice again was high tempo with 2 on 0 quick up transition drills, 1 on 1 straight down, and then a regroup was added. Few defensemen were beat, which usually makes the coaches happy. From there the guys did 2 on 2’s full ice. After that there was some teaching, with the coaches showing players where they wanted them for defensive zone coverage.

Spread The Word

After the ice was cleaned the guys scrimmaged again. The fans were excited as the likes of Stamkos, Downie, Brewer, Lecavalier, St. Louis participated today. Brett Connelly got to skate on a line with Stamkos and St. Louis and that line was buzzing all game for the Blue Team. The line of Downie, Pyatt and Conacher also created quite a few chances. For the White Team, the line of Blair Jones, Carter Ashton, centered by Dominic Moore was flying all game. The line was tenacious on the fore check, creating chances off turnovers. The game remained scoreless through regulation and went into overtime where Blair Jones won it on a great power move cutting to the net. The top line for the White Team was Jones, Ashton and Moore. For the Blue Team, St. Louis, Stamkos, and Connelly.

In what could prove to be a battle for one of the final forward positions, Blair Jones and Carter Ashton both played great games, albeit on the same line.
