Lightning team up with Brandon Hockey Chicks to host \'Girls Learn to Play Hockey\' clinic
The Tampa Bay Lightning have paired up with local all-women’s hockey team, the Brandon Hockey Chicks, to host a ‘Girls Learn to Play Hockey’ event on Sunday, February 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

Girls will have an exclusive opportunity to learn the basic skills of the sport with one hour of on-ice instruction from Lightning personnel. Each girl will have the use of skates and equipment. In addition, the Brandon Hockey Chicks women’s hockey team will be on hand to distribute gear, help the girls get ready to go on the ice and assist with on-ice instruction. Each attendee will also receive two terrace level tickets to attend the February 14 home game as the Bolts take on the Ottawa Senators at 7 p.m.

The Brandon Hockey Chicks were founded on July 12, 2009. The team’s mission is to promote women's recreational hockey with a team that exemplifies good sportsmanship and to offer opportunities for women of all interests and skill levels to play hockey by providing affordable league play, clinics and other programs.

The entire Lightning organization continues to follow through with its commitment of growing the game among diverse populations in Florida. It maintains its dedication to community hockey initiatives through a more hands-on approach, with a primary goal to improve the overall quality of the sport by promoting its values across all demographics.
