Getting to know: Mike Commodore
6-foot-4, 225-pound defenseman has played in 17 games with the Detroit Red Wings this season.

Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta native spent the last three seasons in the Columbus Blue Jackets organization. He played 158 games with the Blue Jackets and 11 games with their AHL affiliate, the Springfield Falcons.

Joined the Ottawa Senators midway through the 2007-08 season after spending the prior two-and-a-half seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Won an IIHF World Championship with Team Canada in 2007.

Won a Stanley Cup with the Hurricanes in 2005-06, playing in all 25 of the team’s playoff games.

Played against the Lightning in the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals as a member of the Calgary Flames.

Appeared in a music video for Paul Brandt’s remake of “Convoy,” while a member of the Flames.

Also has had NHL stints with Anaheim and New Jersey. He was drafted by the Devils in the second round (42nd overall) in 1999.

Won an NCAA Championship at the University of North Dakota in 2000.
