Lightning recall forward Brandon Segal from Norfolk
Angelidis, Smith & Oberg Sent to Admirals
Segal, 6-foot-2, 209 pounds has played in three games with Norfolk since being acquired by the Lightning on February 21 from the Chicago Blackhawks, tallying three goals and four points. He scored a goal in his season debut with Norfolk on February 24 at Binghamton. In 56 games between the Admirals and Rockford IceHogs this season, Segal has compiled 16 goals and 29 assists to go along with 63 penalty minutes.
The Richmond, British Columbia native has played in 92 career NHL games with the Lightning, Dallas Stars and Los Angeles Kings, collecting 11 goals and 22 points. He played in two games with Tampa Bay during the 2008-09 season, including his NHL debut on March 3 versus the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was originally drafted by the Nashville Predators in the fourth round, 102nd overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Angelidis, 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, played in four games with the Lightning since being recalled on February 21, recording five penalty minutes. He has played in 49 games with the Admirals this season, recording 12 goals and 23 points. He ranks second on Norfolk with 123 penalty minutes and is tied for sixth with 12 goals. The Woodbridge, Ontario native scored his first career goal in his NHL debut with the Lightning on January 24 versus the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Oberg, 6-foot, 191 pounds, has skated in two games with the Lightning this season, recording a plus-2 rating. He was acquired by the Lightning with Mike Kostka from the Florida Panthers on December 2 in exchange for James Wright and Mike Vernace. He made his Lightning debut on January 24 against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Oberg has played in 35 AHL games this year with Norfolk and the San Antonio Rampage, recording five goals and 18 points with a plus-8 rating. He has played in 23 games with the Admirals, notching five goals and 16 points with a plus-10. Oberg has played in 148 career AHL games with the Admirals, Rampage, Rochester Americans and Manitoba Moose. He has also skated in five career Calder Cup Playoff games, all with Manitoba during the 2009-10 season.
Smith, 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, has played in eight games with the Lightning this season, collecting two assists. The North Vancouver, British Columbia native has played in 15 career NHL games with the Lightning and the New York Islanders, recording a goal and three points. He has played in 50 games with the Admirals this season, recording 21 goals and 57 points. He ranks second on the Admirals for points, goals, assists and in plus/minus (+26).
