Lightning recall defenseman Keith Aulie from Norfolk
Labrie, Smith and Oberg Sent to Admirals
Aulie, 6-foot-6, 217 pounds, has played in 17 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, collecting two assists and 16 penalty minutes. He’s also skated in 23 games with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL, recording one assist and 30 penalty minutes. The Regina, Saskatchewan native has played in 57 career NHL games, recording two goals and four points to go along with 48 penalty minutes. Aulie scored his first career NHL goal last season on March 8 against the NY Islanders.
The 22 year-old has skated in 107 career AHL games with the Marlies and Abbotsford Heat, posting five goals and 16 points. He represented the Marlies at the 2011 AHL All-Star Classic in Hershey, PA last season.
Aulie was acquired by the Lightning from Toronto this past Monday prior to the NHL Trade Deadline in exchange for forward Carter Ashton. He was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the fourth round, 116th overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Oberg, 6-foot, 191 pounds, has skated in three games with the Lightning this season, recording a plus-2 rating. He was acquired by the Lightning with Mike Kostka from the Florida Panthers on December 2 in exchange for James Wright and Mike Vernace. Oberg has played in 35 AHL games this year with Norfolk and the San Antonio Rampage, recording five goals and 18 points with a plus-8 rating. He has played in 23 games with the Admirals, notching five goals and 16 points with a plus-10.
Smith, 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, has played in nine games with the Lightning this season, collecting two assists. The North Vancouver, British Columbia native has played in 16 career NHL games with the Lightning and the New York Islanders, recording a goal and three points. He has played in 50 games with the Admirals this season, recording 21 goals and 57 points. He ranks second on the Admirals for points, goals, assists and in plus/minus (+26).
Labrie, 6-foot-2, 218 pounds, has played in nine games with the Lightning this season, recording one assist and 15 penalty minutes. He recorded his first career NHL point (assist) with the Lightning on January 21 at Phoenix. The Baie-Comeau, Quebec native has appeared in 42 games with Norfolk this season, tallying 13 goals and 30 points. Labrie leads the Admirals and ranks second in the AHL with a plus-27 rating and ranks third (tie) on the club in penalty minutes with 90.
