Lightning Concert Series, Presented by Volkswagen, to feature Edwin McCain
Solo Artist to Headline Free Post-Game Concert Following March 10 Home Game Versus Hurricanes
Raised in Greenville, South Carolina, on a musical diet of everything from Earth, Wind & Fire to David Wilcox, he recorded his first independent demo in 1991, issuing his debut, “Solitude,” two years later. That album led to his 1995 major-label debut, ‘Honor Among Thieves,’ which introduced America to the then-budding Southeastern bar favorite. Songs like “Solitude” and “3 a.m.” remain fan favorites and live staples when he performs. Two years later, he broke into the mainstream with the sweeping ballad “I’ll Be”, from the album ‘Misguided Roses’.
Over two decades, McCain has morphed into a road warrior, gigging throughout North America most of the year, flanked by his longtime friends and band-mates Craig Shields on saxophone and keyboards, Larry Chaney on lead guitar, as well drummer Markeya “Tez” Sherard and bassist Jason Pomar.
Co-written and performed with singer/songwriter Maia Sharp, McCain released a single, “Hold Out a Hand,” which was available on iTunes Store with all profits benefitting the relief of Hurricane Katrina victims in 2005.
In May 2009, McCain performed on board USS John C. Stennis, while the carrier was on a Western Pacific deployment in the vicinity of Guam.
The Lightning Post-Game Concert Series began in 2006 and has been a huge hit, attracting fans to enjoy additional entertainment after catching all the excitement of Lightning hockey. Other dates scheduled as part of the Lightning Concert Series, presented by Volkswagen, include March 17 and March 24 with performers to be announced at a later date.
