The Norfolk Admirals just completed their fourth consecutive 3-0-0-0 week to improve their historic winning streak to 12 straight games. The streak is the longest by any AHL team since the 2009-10 season and has given Norfolk a whopping eight-point over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for first place in the East Division. Meanwhile, the Admirals’ lead over the St. John’s IceCaps has grown to six points for first in the Eastern Conference standings, while their lead over the Oklahoma City Barons for the AHL’s best record is up to five points.

All three of Norfolk’s most recent wins came on home ice. The Admirals’ first win last week was a closely-contested 2-1 decision over the Hershey Bears. Norfolk’s final two wins each featured five-goal outputs in a two-game weekend sweep over the Springfield Falcons.

This week, the Admirals will look to inch closer to the 2008 Syracuse Crunch’s all-time AHL record of 18 straight wins, as they take on Adirondack, Connecticut and Bridgeport on a three-game road trip next weekend.

Notables

The Admirals’ leading scorer this past week, Tyler Johnson, leads the team with 16 points (5g, 11a) during its 12-game winning streak. Johnson’s 20 goals and 44 points for the season both rank fourth among AHL rookies.

With two goals this past weekend, Cory Conacher became the first Admiral to reach 30 goals this season. Conacher’s 31 goals are one back of Syracuse’s Kyle Palmieri for the league lead. Conacher is third in the league with 66 points (31g, 35a) and leads AHL rookies in scoring by a 12-point margin.

Mark Barberio continues to pace AHL blueliners in scoring with 52 points (9g, 42a), holding a nine-point advantage over the next-highest scoring defenseman. By reaching 50 points, Barberio is also the first defenseman in Norfolk Admirals AHL history to ever get to the 50-point plateau.

Dustin Tokarski’s two wins this past week were his 74th and 75th in his career with the Admirals, which ties him with Michael Leighton for the most wins in the team’s AHL history. Tokarski has now overtaken Ben Bishop for the AHL lead with 27 wins this season.

During the Admirals’ 12-game winning streak, Tokarski is 8-0-0, with a 1.75 goals-against average, .927 save percentage and two shutouts. His eight straight wins are an all-time record for AHL Norfolk goaltenders.

Jaroslav Janus is 4-0-0-0, with a 1.71 goals-against average and .938 save percentage during Norfolk’s 12-game winning streak.

Bolts Beyond the AHL

The Florida Everblades went 2-1-0 this past week, including a 9-3 win over the Kalamazoo Wings where Bobby Raymond set an Everblades franchise record with a +6 rating.

Vladislav Namestnikov added another goal for the London Knights, boosting his totals to 21 goals, 47 assists and 68 points. Namestnikov is second in scoring for the Knights, who have the Ontario Hockey League’s best record at 45-16-0-1.

Alex Killorn finished the regular season as Harvard’s leading scorer, posting 36 points (18g, 18a) in 30 games. Killorn and his Crimson teammates are set to take on the Yale Bulldogs in a best-of-three series in the ECAC Hockey Championship quarterfinals series, beginning this Friday.
