"I am very excited to be 'Cooking for a Cause' this weekend," Boucher said. "Breast cancer is a horrible disease that touches so many of us and I am pleased to be able to help raise money for Susan G. Komen in my own community. As for the food, I spend more time at the rink than in the kitchen, but I'm sure everyone will have a great time for an even greater cause."
Susan G. Komen for the Cure began with a single grant of $28,000 in 1982, and has now invested more than $685 million in research, making Komen the largest non-profit source for breast cancer research funding outside of the U.S. government. Komen currently manages more than 500 active research grants totaling nearly $300 million. After touching every major advance in breast cancer science, Komen is now focused on research to stem metastatic and aggressive disease, find scientifically sound preventive strategies, and investigate environment links to breast cancer development.
