Lightning, Sun Sports to air classic game this Thursday
Lightning’s Inaugural Game to Air at 8 p.m. on October 18
TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning announced today that Sun Sports will air the franchise’s inaugural game against the Chicago Blackhawks from October 7, 1992 on Thursday, October 18 at 8 p.m. Sun Sports will continue to air classic Lightning games on Thursday nights throughout the year.
The game televised this Thursday night will showcase the Lightning’s first NHL win in front of a sold out crowd of 10,425 fans at Expo Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds. Chris Kontos scored the first goal in Lightning history to lead the Lightning to a 7-3 victory against the Blackhawks. Kontos would go on to score four goals during the game which still stands today as a Lightning record for most goals in a single game.
