Lightning Prospect Performer of the week

Nikita Kucherov, the Lightning’s second-round pick, 58th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, is the Lightning Prospect Performer of the Week for the period ending November 4.

The highly-skilled winger from Maikop, Russia, made his Quebec Major Junior Hockey League debut two weeks ago for the Quebec Remparts after missing the first 13 games of the season with a shoulder injury.

Nikita Kucherov is the Bolts Prospect Performer of the week.

Kucherov has lived up to the much-anticipated hype surrounding the 19-year-old, notching a goal and three assists in two games this past week. The Remparts went 1-1-0 during the week.

Kucherov was a major contributor in his team’s 8-3 victory against Acadia Bathurst on Friday night, collecting a goal and two assists as well as being named the third star of the game.

The Remparts were unable to add onto their three-game winning streak the next night when they visited Rimouski, falling short in a 4-1 defeat. Kucherov still proved his worth, however, earning a helper on the Remparts lone goal of the game.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound offensive dynamo has collected two goals and seven points in just four games, making the Lightning brass look very smart for using a second-round pick on him in 2011.

Kucherov participated in the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championships last season in Alberta, Canada, and proved to be one of Russia’s most effective players, collecting two goals and seven points in just seven games as his country won the Silver Medal.

Playing on a stacked Remparts squad that is ranked third in the Canadian Hockey League’s top 10 rankings, Kucherov adds another offensive dimension to the Remparts’ already impressive arsenal.

Honorable Mention:

Tanner Richard – (Forward) – Guelph – OHL – The Lightning’s third-round pick, 71st overall, of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft has been a regular on this list all season. Sitting second in the Ontario Hockey League with 20 assists in 16 games, Richard added to his total this weekend collecting three assists in three games, highlighted by a two-assist effort in his team’s 4-1 victory over Oshawa on Friday night. The playmaking center now has two goals and 22 points in 16 games.
