Conacher Named Lightning Prospect Performer Of The Week

Cory Conacher is this week’s Lightning Prospect Performer of the Week, for period ending December 30. Conacher finished the three-game week with five points (two goals, three assists), including a pair of multi-point games.

The Burlington, Ontario native started out the week with a gritty three-point night on Wednesday against the Senators in the Crunch’s 5-3 win. He scored the game’s second goal and collected assists on two of Syracuse’s power play tallies. He was named the game’s first star with his three-point output.

After being held scoreless on Friday night against Norfolk, Conacher notched a goal and an assist on Saturday night versus St. John’s. He scored the game’s opening goal and set-up Keith Aulie’s second tally of the season. The Crunch went on to lose the game, 5-4, despite scoring the first four goals.

Conacher ranks tied for second on the Crunch and 20th in the AHL in points with 27.

Honorable Mentions

Tanner Richard (Forward) – Switzerland – WJC – Tanner Richard has gotten off to a hot start with Team Switzerland at the World Jr. Championships in Ufa, Russia. He posted a game-high three assists in Switzerland’s first game of the tournament in a 7-2 win. After being held off the board against Sweden, Richard recorded another assist against Finland on Sunday. Richard has notched four assists in his team’s first three games.

Tyler Johnson (Forward) – Syracuse – AHL – Tyler Johnson had a productive week for the Crunch this past week, recording three points (a goal and two assists) in two games. Johnson was held off the score sheet against Binghamton, but on Friday night he registered a goal and a pair of helpers in Syracuse’s 4-2 win over Norfolk. Johnson was the game’s first star and now ranks second in the AHL in goals (19) and fourth in points (33). The multi-point game was Johnson’s fourth of the month and 10th of the season.
