Informal Practices Notebook Day 5
Informal Practices Notebook Day 5

The Bolts finished up their informal practices of the week on Friday in Brandon at the Ice Sports Forum, where there appeared to be a larger fan contingency present at the rink today than the past few days.

Friday marked the final time that the team will hold informal on-ice sessions, as the Lightning will host Fan Fest on Sunday at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in downtown before training camp officially opens next week.

Here’s a glimpse of what went on Friday in Brandon, which in all honesty, wasn’t a whole lot:

LINDBACK GETS SOME LOOKS

After not skating on Wednesday and logging limited ice time on Thursday, goaltender Anders Lindback participated in the full scrimmage with his Lightning teammates on the ice on Friday, where he was tested with a few shots on goal and received some real solid looks.

For a third consecutive day, Lindback reiterated that he has no pain in his right knee and was held out of a lot of the on-ice action the past few days as more of a precautionary measure.

At the other end of the ice, Mathieu Garon got in a few looks as well, with both netminders commenting afterwards about their excitement regarding some healthy competition at camp next week.

“It’s going to be important to battle out there,” Garon said. “He looked really good out there today and he’s a world-class goaltender, so I’m sure we’re both really going to enjoy our time at camp together.”

“It’ll be fun to get going,” Lindback added. “But it’s going to be intense and it’s a short camp next weel, so all I can do is just be as ready as I can.”

SOME LIKE IT HOT

With regards to Lindback easing in to a new team, everything has been “really great” so far, he said, with just one minor demerit.

Since arriving back in Tampa Bay this week, Lindback has been bunking with Victor Hedman at the Lightning defenseman’s residence. It’s been fun, Lindback said, although the pair currently has no hot water at the house, yielding a few chuckles out of the attending media.

When asked if he had any other qualms, Lindback simply replied, “He doesn’t cook for me either.”
