Prospect Performer of the Week

Tyler Johnson is this week’s Lightning Prospect Performer of the Week, for the period ending February 25. Johnson finished the four-game week with five goals and a plus-two rating.

The native of Spokane, Washington started off the week with a hat trick in the Syracuse Crunch’s 5-3 win over the Albany Devils on Monday, then followed up the performance on Sunday night with two more goals in his team’s 4-0 shutout of the Connecticut Whale to wrap up his weekly performance.

In addition, Johnson’s first goal of the afternoon on Sunday made him the first Crunch player to reach 50 points on the season.

Johnson now leads all AHL skaters with 28 goals and is second in the league’s points standings with 51, behind only Gustav Nyquist of the Grand Rapids Griffins.

HONORABLE MENTION

Since joining the Syracuse Crunch nearly two weeks ago, goaltender Cedrick Desjardins is 3-0-0 with two shutouts, allowing just three goals total since coming to the team.
