Prospect Performer of the Week
Syracuse Crunch defenseman Matt Taormina is this week's Tampa Bay Lightning Prospect Performer Of The Week, for the period ending March 11.
Taormina was just one of two Crunch players this past week, the other being JT Brown, to record points in each of the team's three games dating back to last Wednesday, March 6.
In those three games, Taormina registered a total of three points, coming on one goal and two assists.
On Wednesday, he landed on the score sheet with a helper in Syracuse's 6-3 loss to the Toronto Marlies.
Two days later, however, the Crunch defenseman helped his team rebound with two consecutive victories, culminating on Saturday night with a consecutive-game sweep of the St. John's IceCaps.
In the first matchup with the IceCaps on Friday night, Taormina notched yet another assist, but followed that performance up with a goal just 24 hours later, as the Crunch defeated St. John's a second time in as many days.
The performance also helped Taormina extend his point streak to four games, over which he accumulated one goal and three assists.
