Lightning to have third overall pick in 2013 NHL Draft
The National Hockey League held its annual 2013 NHL Draft Lottery Tuesday night at TSN headquarters in Toronto, Ontario.
As a result of the lottery, the Lightning will have the third overall pick in this year's NHL Entry Draft, slated for June 30 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Entering Monday, the Bolts had a 14.2 percent chance of winning the lottery, but in the end, the Lightning did not move from its original spot at No. 3.
Even though the Florida Panthers finished the season with the fewest amount of points and had the greatest chance of winning the lottery at 25 percent, it was the Colorado Avalanche who prevailed instead, and who will pick first overall come the end of June.
The Nashville Predators and the Carolina Hurricanes round out the top five.
